Along with studying traditional mental health care including medications and therapy, Dr. Bailey has pursued a lifelong interest in integrative, complementary and holistic health practices. She earned the prestigious Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner (IFMCP) designation in 2018. She believes that health can be improved through a combination of removing things that are not supporting health such as self-defeating thoughts or behaviors, infection, inflammation, toxins, or food sensitivities, and adding things that support health such as nutrients, sleep, movement, healthy coping strategies, mindfulness, connectedness and purpose. She approaches mental health care from a perspective of personalized treatment to detect what things need to be removed or added for each patient. She focuses on the whole person addressing foundational health and using natural strengths to achieve best outcomes.
As a balance to her pursuit of knowledge and work with patients, ElLois is the mother of eight, grandmother of thirteen and has had the opportunity to be a caregiver for several loved ones. Spending time with family is how she loves to spend most of her free time. Indeed, they are the reasons for her quest for knowledge and her opportunity to learn more.
