Lyme Disease Treatment from Rising Health Specialty Clinic in Holladay, Utah

About Lyme Disease

The condition is infamous for eluding diagnosis, as its symptoms imitate those of other chronic diseases. Worse, symptoms can take months or even years to manifest.

Many patients are unaware of having suffered a tick bite, so when they experience symptoms, they often do not associate the two. Doctors are also prone to misreading symptoms or tying them to ongoing health problems.

Even when this condition is properly diagnosed, treatment can be difficult. The bacteria associated with Lyme Disease can protect themselves using a barrier known as biofilm. Traditional treatments are often thwarted by this protective film, allowing the disease to perpetuate for months or years.

And because Lyme symptoms mimic other diseases — including chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, and even depression — less experienced practitioners may not consider this illness when conducting a medical evaluation.

Symptoms of Lyme Disease

  • Erythema migrans rash or EM rash.
This rash begins at the site of the tick bite about a week after the bite, and gradually expands. Note: The center of the rash may clear, giving the rash the appearance of a “bulls-eye.” Rashes may take on many different shapes and not all rashes will have a bulls-eye appearance. There can be multiple rashes on the body. While a rash is characteristic of Lyme disease, many people will not develop a rash at all.

  • Fever

  • Fatigue

  • Aches

  • Chills

  • Swollen lymph nodes

  • Other flu-like symptoms
