Near and Far-Infrared + Red Light Therapy

Reaching Out to the Sun

What Is Red Light Therapy?

Light therapy is an effective way to treat health conditions using artificial light. Sometimes called phototherapy, light therapy is appropriate for individuals struggling with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), other forms of depression, and even adjusting to nighttime work schedules.

Our bodies were designed to absorb and process light every day. Individuals suffering from SAD will quickly point out how much better they feel in the Spring and Summer once the depression brought on by the dark winter days is gone. Light therapy has been used for thousands of years to treat skin disease, depression, and other conditions.

Different light wavelengths provide different health benefits. The longer the wavelength, the deeper the penetration, bringing health and healing to different cells in your body. Your medical team at Rising Health will recommend the best light therapy and experience tailored to you to bring you a healthier life.

Near-Infrared Therapy

Near-infrared wavelengths (NIR) fall into the invisible part of the light spectrum between 700 and 1200 nm. We provide the optimal NIR therapy by using LEDs, which allows us to control the surface temperature of light hitting your body. Using LED near-infrared also does not damage tissue or have any risk to the eyes since it is a gentler and faster treatment.

Near-infrared therapy penetrates the mitochondria of cells and can trigger increased cell metabolism, protein synthesis (including collagen), and antioxidant activity. Patients will find NIR will lead to improved:

  • Cell regeneration

  • Energy

  • Flexibility

  • Joint pain

  • Metabolism (and lower body fat)

  • Recovery time after working out

  • Skin rejuvenation

  • White blood cell production

Far-Infrared Therapy

Far-Infrared rays are the longest wavelengths (between 3,000 nm to 1 mm) and are also completely invisible. As they penetrate the skin, the far-infrared rays gently raise the body’s surface temperature to 107.6F and above allowing body systems to activate.

The ancient Chinese, Romans, Egyptians, and Indigenous peoples have used different methods to emit far-infrared heat and energy to heal their people, and in recent history, doctors have harnessed several technologies to replicate this heating process.

The benefits include (but are not limited to) improved:

  • Blood circulation and skin complexion

  • Cardiovascular performance

  • Detoxification

  • Immunity

  • Pain management

  • Wound healing

  • Cancer support

Red Light Therapy

Unlike infrared light, red light is visible. It is between 630-700 nm on the electromagnetic scale and is used to treat the surface of the skin and muscle tissue. Similar to the heat of near-infrared, you can feel red light. It is also called low-level laser therapy (LLLT), low-power laser therapy (LPLT), and photobiomodulation (PBM).

While studies are limited, red light therapy has been proven to improve:

  • Dementia

  • Dental pain

  • Hair loss

  • Osteoarthritis

  • Tendinitis

  • Skin issues (wrinkles, acne scars, burns, UV sun damage)
